NASA Education - Serving those who served

Thank You!

On behalf of John Blanchard, Executive Director of NASA Education we would like to thank you for your support of the Fall Veterans Conference, NASA Education.s programs, and your kindness and generosity to the veterans.

Impressive numbers turned out for the 13th event sponsored by NASA Education Corporation.

We couldn.t do all we do for U.S. veterans if it weren.t for our wonderful service providers, donors, collaborators and volunteers who continue to assist us with the Veterans Conference which NASA Education sponsored on April 30th and May 1st, 2012 at Harvest Bible Chapel and Country Inn & Suites.

Over 200 U.S. veterans, who were newly returned, displaced, disabled, homeless, unemployed or otherwise in transition, registered for services and were offered meals and overnight accommodations for the two days. Many of the attendees were provided with train tickets to return and were coming from as far away as Crown Point, Indiana.

NASA Education is a Crystal Lake-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with three major projects:

  • Project Fresh Start, a workforce and community reintegration program for U.S. veterans who are displaced, disabled, homeless, unemployed or otherwise in transition
  • the Stand Down for Veterans, which takes place in spring and fall of each year
  • transitional housing for homeless veterans who need a hand up to obtain skills that will eventually lead to fulltime employment and self sufficiency.

NASA Education welcomes donations of cash, vehicles, appliances, household goods such as furniture, dishes and kitchen equipment, nonperishable food, and new or gently used clothing for the veterans.

Please check back frequently as we are in the process of scheduling the Spring Veterans Conference which will take place in Fall, 2012.

It takes many hands and hearts to make an event of this magnitude come together for the veterans. We would like to recognize some of them here:

A special thank you goes out to our loyal volunteers and their countless hours of serving the veterans.

We could not do this without our volunteers. Since our very first Stand Down event in the fall of 2006, we've had very loyal and dedicated volunteers, some who have assisted in every stand down. We couldn't do this without our loyal friends. This event is a huge undertaking and everyone who is willing to give their time, no matter whether it's five minutes or five hours, is very much appreciated. Thank you again for your continued support and dedication to such a great cause. I'd like to extend a special thank you to the NASA staff, families and participants.
